soaring wayne phoenix story the earth and sky is the debut album from multidisciplinary British artist Wayne Phoenix. Originally conceived over a decade ago as one part of an elaborate project encompassing music, film, and performance, "story the earth and sky" is a profoundly personal and vulnerable expression unbound by Phoenixü's exploration of creative discipline and mystery, and a bridge beyond the artificial boundaries that separate us all from the unfiltered voice of our inner child. The album is split across two parts - "story the earth" starts in abstract, words and thoughts left hanging in the ether. Phoenixü's broken, spoken word obscures itself in melodic white noise and distortion. It focuses on the artist's internal search and dissolves in the surrounding ambiance before eventually, and undeniably, arriving outside and beyond itself. A powerful, intentional debut from an artist determined to find and define a new form of expression. Phoenixü's work is deeply personal, yet, not directly autobiographical. When asked about himself and his art, his focus shifts to what informs the moment of creation. His concerns lay with the philosophical impulses that ügcreate an orientation to life. The first half of the album was previously released in 2020 on Halcyon Veil to great listener and critical acclaim (including a glowing Pitchfork review). Those tracks received new mixes by Chihei Hatekayama alongside an additional LP side of music all of which was mastered by Stephan Mathieu at Schwebung Mastering.
