The score to Alex Garland's 2015 Sci-fi film EX MACHINA, by Ben Salisbury & Geoff Barrow. The film has enjoyed rave reviews including Sight & Sound naming it their Film Of The Week' and the Guardian describing it as a "dazzlingly technological thriller". It stars a trio of rising stars - Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson and Alicia Vikander, who por-trays a robot built to test the boundaries between humans and machines. Salisbury and Barrow join forces for a second time since their creation of DROKK, to create the dark, synth heavy score Geoff Barrow says, "It's been great for Ben and I to be working with Alex again, and hope-fully we have written the Kind of score an intense sci---fi thriller like this needs". Salisbury adds "we wanted to get away from the type of soundtrack album that has a huge tracklist with lots of short cues. Instead we've tried to put together an album of fuller length tracks by sequeing some of our cuesand creating a structure that mirrors the film". The album contains the 10 tracks contained in the film and a bonus of material and cues not used in the main album. Geoff and Ben worked tirelessly on this project, not only for the movie itself but for people who wished to listen to the soundtrack as a stand alone experience. The Ex Machina score was mixed at Air Studios and mastered at Optimum with Geoff and Ben present at both sessions. The artwork / imagery has been taken from the actual motion picture and has been pieced together by Invada's very own art director Marc Bessant (Portishead / DROKK).
