JOKE LANZ aka SUDDEN INFANT is extreme body culture performance Art NOISE and BLUES INDUSTRIAL at it's simplest form. Born 1965 in BASEL, Switzerland, currently working out of BERLIN GERMANY and since 1985 involved in many projects like; Jaywalker, SCHIMPFLUCH--Gruppe , Catholic Boys in Heavy Leather, WAL, and many others in the vein of punk/hardcore and noise. He worked as GARBAGEMAN, Record Dealer, Chocolate Manufacturer or Bike Messenger and besides composed music for the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, VOICE CRACK, Peter Kowald, Shelley Hirsch, Strotter Inst or Christian Wolfarth. So as you may see his NOT A TYPICAL VOODOO RHYTHM ARTIST, that's why he IS! He is one of the most prolific artists working in the border zones where performance and body art meet improvisation and noise. In his Sudden Infant Guise, Joke creates a unique blend of physical sound poetry and epileptic noise bursts, using contact microphones, loops, tapes and turntables. The Music is as minimal or back to the roots as it get's, just from another angle of view, his music is very direct and comes along with at least 20 tons of wierdness and RAWPOWER. For this new album he collaborated with the one and only ROLI MOSIMANN who is one of the co-founders of the NEW YORK NO-WAVE REVOLUTION in the early 80's (he worked together with the SWANS, NEW ORDER, Marilyn Manson or THE YOUNG GODS and recorded that album as a trio together with Christian Weber (bass) and Alexandre Babel (drums)) Joke Lanz is Doing the Elecronics and Loopings , and the result is one of Voodoo Rhythm's most brute and destructive record ever.
