Mama Kandy is the meeting of Guillaume Allardi, actor, musician, and poet, and Didier Bouchet, guitarist, bassist, ukulele player, among other things. Since their encounter in 2017, extensive discussions have blossomed; they talk about blues, Voodoo sorcery, punk spirit, their love for old guitars, and analog sound. Then, they start playing. Mama Kandy becomes a journey through the states via the music of slaves, outcasts, and the marginalized, whether they be black, white, or red. From down-to-earth blues with the voices of T. van Zandt, L. Cohen, Hoyt Haxton, Woody Guthrie, to original compositions. In the language of the blues, "The Whitening" speaks about life being mistreated, both within our souls and externally in everything that lives. It reflects on our desire for change and everything that hinders us, the anticipated changes, and those that overwhelm and truly transform us. When things finish burning, they turn into ashes, white and light like snow crystals. At the end of darkness, there is whiteness. However, sometimes one must flirt with madness, dare violence, go to the extremes of the unreasonable, and lose everything to find, where it was least expected, that moment of emptiness and clarity at the end of the darkest hours.
