Every once in a while, an artist takes a decisive step, sort of gears up and delivers an album that tells us who they"ve always been. On the new album "Flood", Vilma Flood has taken just such a step, distilling both her emotional expression, her songwriting and her musical arrangements into something that could be the big exclamation point of the year for anyone who falls for what feels real. Working with producer and songwriter Hampus Norén (Sara Parkman etc), Flood has developed her palette. On the album, sheer strings coexist with subtle synth melodies and dreamy plucking nylon-stringed guitars. Emotion ranges from angry and harsh, as in the opening "Cold", to gentle and tender, as in the whispering "Crowded Garden". It"s unfiltered but perfectly calibrated. Since her debut album "Moodswinger", which was unanimously acclaimed by the Swedish press in 2019, Vilma Flood has been seen touring extensively, with highlights including a sold-out Fasching in Stockholm, Dalhalla and the tastemaker festival Sthlm Americana, as well as guesting Moonica Mac alongside Sara Parkman in Så Mycket Bättre. Flood has also appeared on recordings by The Legends, Blood Music and I"m Kingfisher, among others, and has been a guest of the aforementioned Mac at her defilant sold out Cirkus shows.
