Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders) gives a magnificent performance in Enda Walsh"s adaptation of Max Porter"s award-winning novel "Grief Is the Thing with Feathers", a poignant meditation on love, loss and life. For Teho Teardo this is the third collaboration with Irish playwright Enda Walsh and much more is in the pipeline! It is the story of a crow, two motherless children and their father. The father is gripped by memories that are both terrifying and funny. The crow just wants to take care of them and will not leave the house until they are safe. Music plays a very strong role in the show, now becoming the memory of the characters, now the sound and "voice" of the protagonists" thoughts. In the album"s opening track, "A Bit About Ghosts", the sound wall of cellos is a continuous dialogue between strings and electronics, percussion and slide guitars. Track after track Teho experiments with different interactions between strings, electric instruments and electronics, creating a linear and powerful flow. Possibly Teardo"s darkest work, it is also an emotional lesson in survival, where all the elements involved lie in wait for their reunion with the light.
